Walls were not properly prepared before painting. This contractor painted over all sorts of flaws throughout the house that should have been filled and sanded first.
A flat-finish paint was used as it conveniently attempts to hide all the imperfections but doesn't on closer inspection. A flat-finish paint isn't at all washable and leaves unsightly and permanent streaks even with the slightest wiping with a clean damp cloth so we now have to have the walls repainted (house is new).
A low sheen, high quality durable and washable paint should have been used.
This company was an extremely poor choice our builder commissioned and we strongly advise others to avoid it. Do your homework. Get recommendations from others. Place the order yourself for your paint from the supplier the painter uses. When the painter picks up and pays for the order, he will still get it at his discounted price. Choosing the type of paint and its finish as well as properly preparing the walls before painting is as important as choosing your colours.
Finding a skilled painter who takes the time and pride in his work is the MOST important step of all!
Sadly, this company does not measure up.
