Mary Valley Adventure Trails in Amamoor, Gympie
Mary Valley Adventure Trails
I hesitate writing negative reviews but feel others can use our experience to their benefit. This wasn't a case of some small niggles - it was the full disaster resulting in two people being hospitalised.
We booked a multi-day horse trek with this business & were assured we would be fine after letting them know our respective level of experience - most of us had been riding for 1 year. It appears the business has only one type of horse - a standard Arab - & most are endurance racing horses. This has a strong bearing on the events that followed, as these animals are well known to be nervous & only experienced riders should be on, rather than the novice riders that most of us were. There was no registration form & only a waiver where we were asked about our level of experience, but as far as I am know they were left in the office & not looked at. There was no safety or ride briefing or re-checking our experience with us individually. It seemed to be a case of 'get on & get out'. The group was being guided by two children - girls around 18 YO who should not have been put in that position of guiding novice riders on nervous horses in an unsuitable environment. I was told my horse gets nervous in traffic-& our ride was in traffic on a local road. My horse freaked out within 30 minutes, despite my best efforts to keep it going forward and focused. I ended up in the local hospitals A&E, along with another rider later in the day (he ended in the ICU in an induced coma).
Give this place a big swerve if you value you and your kids safety.
