On Sunday the 14/12/14 at approximately 10.30 a.m. I went in to Millers at Australia Fair.
My reason was to return a faulty top I had purchased at the end of November. The top had a hole at the side and I only noticed it when I attempted to wear it prior to going out on Saturday night. The top still had all the labels attached including the price label. Unfortunately I didn't have a receipt but I did have details on my credit card statement. When I explained all this to the Miller's staff member she refused to exchange the item for me.
She totally would not help me in any way, saying you need a receipt to return goods even if they are faulty.
The Sales of Goods Act states: "You only need a receipt if you want your money back, otherwise you are entitled to an exchange if the product is of an unsatisfactory nature".
To say I was shocked and disappointed is an understatement - the item was faulty and I should have been allowed to exchange it for another item.
