Medicare’s Child Dental Benefits Schedule
Medicare’s Child Dental Benefits Schedule gives eligible children aged between 2 and 17 access to benefits for basic dental services with the total benefit capped at $1,000 per child over a two calendar year period. The CDBS has a means test, which requires receipt of Family Tax Benefit Part A or a relevant Australian Government payment.
The Child Dental Benefit Schedule provides benefits for a wide range of services including examinations, fillings, cleaning, x-rays, fissure sealing, root canals and extractions. Unfortunately benefits are not available cosmetic dental, orthodontics or any paid services provided in hospital.
Mouthguards
A custom made mouthguard is suitable for anyone who plays a contact sport, or sport where there is risk of accidental injury to your mouth. Damage from dental injuries can often require lifelong dental treatment to try and save the damaged tooth/teeth. Custom made mouthguards offer more protection as they offer more coverage and fit securely than generic mouthguards.

3. Dental Hygiene

A good dental care plan will help you beat cavities and gum disease and support all round dental and oral hygiene.
Check up and clean
We recommend that you come in for a check up and clean every 6 months to help detect any signs of early decay and avoid any other oral health problems in the future.
Daily Care
A daily routine of brushing morning and night, flossing, together with good oral hygiene practice and regular dental check-ups, should help prevent the need for fillings and any further restorations in the future. This also decreases the risk of developing gum disease and other dental problems, and ensures a healthy mouth and smile.

Wisdom teeth commonly start coming through between the age of 17 and 21. Without enough space in your jaw your wisdom teeth are at risk of becoming impacted. Impacted teeth can become infected and/or damage the tooth in front.
Before we undertake any surgical procedure we'll discuss what's involved and any risks you should be aware of. In that majority of cases, wisdom teeth can be removed safely at our North Lakes dental practice. However, if your wisdom teeth are in a complex position we may recommend you to a specialist for a second opinion and management.
