We wanted to do some renovations at our house, our friend recommended Ian who had done work at their house. He came and gave us a quote and he seemed nice and knowledgeable so we hired him even though he was more expensive then other quotes we had received but we wanted the job done right so we chose him. However he sent others to do the job, we think they may have been apprentices as they did so many mistakes, as some examples an entryway they did was very noticeably unlevel, light switches were put upside down, gyprock work was left wavy, cracked and unpaintable, doors left not closing properly and trims unfinished.
Ian did not even come and check their work once they had finished the job.
The friends who recommended him saw the work and said they would not have been happy with what they had done and they felt terrible for us.
Ian made us feel like our job was unworthy of his attention as it had been a month since we had heard from them so I messaged and asked when he can come and fix it he said "he would fit our small job in when he could" and then he asked for the rest of the payment, I said I was not paying until the job was finished.
I did not believe they would ever come back if I made the full payment.
In the end it took 7 weeks for them to come back and finally fix the problems, the only reason I believe they actually did come back at all was because I had not made the full payment. It's still not 100 percent but we will fix the rest ourselves.
We had another carpenter come for other work while we were waiting for them to fix it as after the work they had already done we did not want to hire the same company.. he looked at their work and said it was very rough and dodgy and he wouldn't accept that in his house.
I don't usually leave bad reviews but I hope this helps someone so they are not left feeling how we felt during this whole awful experience.
